Fabulous Friday!

Finally got the watch Kung Fu Panda. Never found the time or the people to go with. Groomsman Askance was kind enough to go with me. I loved it! It was really funny. Very Jack Black. "There is no charge for the awesomeness ... or attractiveness." Bwahahaha. I'm still laughing just thinking about it.

Finally hit up the Nordstrom's sale. I haven't been shopping in awhile. I mean truly shopping. I've bought things here and there but today I had 2.5 hours at the mall to browse. All alone. It was magical. Picked up these two beauties.

There didn't my them in my size so they're be at my door in 5-8 business days. Flats are a teacher's very best friend. The heel isn't my usual style but it was so cute in person, I had to give it a try. I got it in a gray and I'm thinking with the right skirt and skinny pants ... I'll work it out. The salesman creeped me out a tad. "Those would look really cute with a pair of short shorts." Really, buddy? Do I look like a booty-shorts type of girl? *shiver*

I have big plans to veg out tomorrow. Possibly interspersed with some cleaning. Should be great. Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Ok, ok. It's really over. I threw away two years' worth of Martha Stewart Weddings magazines. I don't watch her show and I don't subscribe to any other MS mags, but during wedding planning, I only purchased MS wedding mags. They were just so pretty, I couldn't help it. Even the ridiculous amount of money it would require to pull off a MS wedding couldn't shake my allegiance. Farewell, Martha. Farewell, wedding planning. It's been fun. =)

My BFFs and I hit up the OC Fair today. We go under the pretense of "seeing stuff" but it really means stuffing our faces. We succeeded.

I came home so full that I stayed up an extra hour to catch the rerun of Project Runway and to let my stomach digest. I had more pictures but for some reason, when I rotate them in Photobucket and save it as the original, that edit doesn't translate in the direct link in blogger. Boo. You'll just have to visualize the sausage dog, battered potatoes, turkey leg, corn dogs, chili cheese fries, corn, and sodas for yourselves. =)

The joy of vacation is over. Today was my first day back to work. Working at a school is fabulous when no children are around. Summer School is extra fun because I get to leave by 1 P.M..

The iPhone tried to give me a heart attack by displaying a "No SIM card installed" message. After a few searches through google, I thought I'd have to make a trip to the AT&T store but I thought I'd try a tried and try method that I learned from my very first Nintendo: Pop the card out, blow into the slot, pop it back in. Worked like magic. Thanks, Nintendo!

I spent the weekend down in San Diego and attended my first live horse race at the Del Mar Race Rrack. Apparently, we missed Gwen Stefani by one day. I had only been to the Santa Anita Race Track for a picnic, and I was really surprised by how nice the Race Track is!

I was also surprised to see that some folks were having their child's first birthday party there, since I don't think the kid is allowed to gamble. I suppose when the kid is 1, it doesn't really matter what you do. NONE of my picks won, but it was a fun day.

Early days out of work = pictures on the blog! =)

I got my pretty, pretty iPhone this past Sunday (Day 3 since the launch). I actually visited different Apple stores on Friday and Saturday but determined that the wait was entirely too long for my liking. Tater had a fun write-up about her wait for the phone on Day 1.

When I got in line, the store was scheduled to close in 2.5 hours. One of the employees repeatedly told me that I probably wouldn't get it. I refused to listen to her because I had already committed that time to waiting for the phone and I even brought a book to kill time. I barely got in the store with about 15 minutes to spare. I wanted to find the pessimistic employee and shout, "How ya like me now?!" But I didn't.

I'm LOVING the phone. Having a .mac account helps because everything syncs via the internet so I can update everything without ever connecting the phone to the computer.

Kevin is a blessed man. I picked him up a black one so he didn't have to wait for it. 10 points for this wife.

Escrow is due to close this week and once all the paperwork is signed and ready, we'll probably get the keys next week. We have some plans for renovations, so we won't be moving in right away, but just to have the keys will be enough for this girl who has lived at home all her life.

So many things to squeal about!

Off the plane awaiting luggage. Sat next to a girl who laughed out loud at the in-flight movie. Often. And loud enough to jar me from my sleep. She was also allergic to cheese and refused to drink water unless if it was bottled and cold. And there were babies galore on the flight. Crying, screaming babies.

Onto my next thing. I've been waiting for the iPhone. Since the first one came out. I was all ready to go get it tomorrow but now I'm debating whether I should wait for the 32g. I'm debating this as I type this on my sidekick with a cracked screen and had to be restarted twice today because the screen freezes up.

I think I will go tomorrow. But now I'm debating the time. Go at the crack of dawn? Go line up now (unlikely)? Go later tomorrow? Wait until the craze subsides and go on Sunday?

Damn. My luggage is still not here.

Today was my last full day in NYC. Bittersweet. I love New York, but I miss Louie and K very much. I haven't traveled without K (with the exception of some Vegas trips) since a Hawaii trip in '04. I'm a dependent sap.

Today we hit up the Met (I've never been!) and unexpectedly caught a fabulous exhibit, Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. It showcased the influence that superhero costumes had on couture fashion, showing original costumes from superhero flicks alongside pieces right off the runway. Really fabulous.

After that, we took a walk through Central Park, something I've always wanted to do but never could since I'm always here during the freakish cold. Now I'm here in the humid heat. Still loved it.

We needed a break back at the apartment, and after that ventured out to Prospect Park to see Feist in concert. The only other outdoor concert I've been to was at the Hollywood Bowl and this was nothing like that. Hell, it was the first non-mainstream concert I've ever been to. The last one I would count as non-mainstream as Amy Grant (Don't let your laughter kill you), but she's definitely not indie. Come to think of it, Feist is crossing over as well. (The iPod commercial counts in my book.) It was great, casual fun until a downpour came and lasted for about 10 minutes. After that I just stood there, soaked, and enjoyed the music. As much as a person who had never heard of Feist could enjoy it. =)

If I had a list like Winnie's, I would have been able to check a couple of things off today.

I apologize that my poor writing skills led some folks to believe that I'm back in LA. I'm still in NYC. By "home", I meant my sister's home. Sorry! But it definitely would be interesting to see if I could actually squeeze a trip to NYC in one day.

I keep coming back to NYC because every time I come, I get to feel more like a local. I'm not rushing to do tourisy things and today was a fabulous day of walking through neighborhoods.

Today I ate:
- pastrami sandwich
- matzo ball soup
- hummingbird cupcake
At Grom
- gelato
At Financier (my FAVORITE coffee/pastry place in NYC)
- chocolate eclair
- berry cheesecake
- chocolate mousse macaron
- ceviche
- lump crab tostada
- flan

It's a good thing we walked a lot.

Got off the plane at 3:00.
Got to sister's apt by 5:00.
Took a shower.
Left @ 6:30.
Dinner at Porter House at 7:30.
Finished a sundae kit by 10:00.
Walked from 59th to 17th, via 8th Avenue.
Got home by 11:00.

Missed K and Louie every second of the day.

I got to the airport about 50 minutes before my flight. Unfortunately, I was caught behind a family on their way to San Francisco for a golfing trip.

Apparently, being late is the secret to celebrity travel. The lady at the counter walked my bag and me right to the front of the TSA line and then to the front of the boarding pass line. I made it to the gate with plenty of time to purchase my regular soy vanilla latte.

I've been spending much of my time off from work in the non-internet world. It's been a lot of time at church or doing church-related things. I taking on some new responsibilities at church while slowly and painlessly relieving myself of my old responsibilities. I'm really excited and it's a great thing.

In my real job, however, it's not as great or exciting. It was supposed to be a year of much change, but nothing has worked out. As the possibility of doing the exact same thing for another year is becoming reality, I'm having a sort of a freak out. I'm frequenting or almost daily. I'm convinced that I'm not going to find my job on either of those sites.

So I'm going to NYC for four days. I got a cheap ticket and it'll be a good time of hanging out with my sister. I have no major plans except a meal at Porter House (A favorite of mine since I don't have to venture out to Brooklyn for Peter Lugar) and a concert in Brooklyn. Here's to hoping that a good time will encourage me to go back to a job that I can't quit soon enough.

I've recently fallen in love with the facebook iPhoto uploader and this discourages from uploading pictures onto this blog.
